Frequently Asked Questions

does acupuncture hurt?

Generally speaking NO. Acupuncture is not a painful process at all. Very fine, specialised and sterilised single-use needles are inserted into the body at particular spots - usually this is not painful at all for the patient. Sometimes patients will report feelings of spreading, movement or even warmth, all which are normal.

As you are at the centre of the treatment focus, if at anytime anything feels uncomfortable you will always be made to feel safe to communicate that to me.

What Should i wear?

You can wear whatever you like as long as you feel comfortable. Loose fitting clothing is best, so I can easily access acupuncture points on your arms and legs, however if that’s not possible don't worry. I have lots of clean towels to drape you in, making sure you stay nice and warm, as well as ensuring proper modesty.

What should i EXPECT from my first session?

In our first session together we will discus in detail the reason why you came to see me, as well as your medical history. I will ask you questions about all the different body systems to get an understanding of what is going on with your body from a Chinese medicine perspective. Then depending on what’s going on, we move into the treatment part of the session utilising the different tools that are right for you, be that acupuncture, moxa, cupping or gua sha.

do you offer health rebates?

Rebates are available for all major private health insurance funds. Unfortunately Chinese medicine is not covered by the Medicare.
