ADHD Support & Acupuncture
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that can influence attention, executive functioning, impulse control, emotional regulation and activity levels. It can present differently from person to person and often continues into adulthood.
ADHD is not something that needs to be “fixed”. Support should focus on the individual’s needs, strengths and the areas of life they find challenging.
Acupuncture for ADHD Support
Acupuncture may be used as a complementary therapy for people with ADHD, particularly to support some of the symptoms and challenges that can occur alongside it.
Treatment may focus on areas such as stress, sleep, restlessness, emotional regulation and difficulty winding down, depending on the individual.
Acupuncture is not intended to replace ADHD medication, psychology, occupational therapy or other evidence-based care. Instead, it can form one part of a broader, individualised approach to wellbeing.
ADHD Through a Chinese Medicine Lens
Chinese medicine treatment is based on the individual rather than the diagnosis alone.
Two people with ADHD may experience very different challenges, so treatment considers the person’s sleep, energy, digestion, emotional wellbeing, stress levels and other accompanying symptoms.
My approach is neurodiversity-affirming. The aim is not to change who someone is, but to understand their individual presentation and support the areas in which they would like help.
